FPL CS:GO September Update — FPL Cups

Back in August, we provided a glimpse of significant changes coming to FPL in North America, outlining the new team-based qualification system. Today, we’re here to give you all the details on the schedule & format of FPL Cups, and how the qualification system works with the new team-based system. Let’s jump right in.
FPL Cup schedule
To ensure a consistent stream of competition and financial support for the grassroots NA CS:GO scene, on top of our recently announced Mythic League partnership, we’re working with the following third-party organisers to expand the FPL Cup schedule:

Across all FPL Cups, every match win provides +15 points for each winning team player, with these accumulating on the central FPL qualification leaderboards. The FPL Cups kick off with the Mythic Cup, the first FPL Cup that provides FPL qualification points using the new team-based format, on 12th September at 14:00 EDT. Entry to all cups will be free. In future seasons, we’re hoping to offer the community a way of crowdfunding the FPL Cups to increase the overall prize pool, through a small entry fee.

Tournament Leaderboards as a route to FPL qualification
Tournament leaderboards are a brand new feature on FACEIT that allows the tracking of player performance across any number of tournaments and display it on a single central leaderboard. Tournament leaderboards will serve as a foundation for the new team-based qualifier for FPL, where the points earned by players in FPL Cups will be tracked via the FPL Cup Qualification Leaderboards.
FPL Cup qualification leaderboards will reset on 10th November 2020, and the top three players from that period will receive a trial in the FPL, with players in 4th-10th place receiving a trial in FPL Challenger. If a single team manages to share the top spots that flow into FPL or FPL-C, we will extend the trial to the entire team.
Current FPL or FPL Challenger players will not be eligible to qualify for the league they are currently in, with the spot(s) being offered to the highest performer who is not already a part of the league, however, these players are able to participate in FPL Cups, competing for the prize pool and glory. If a player has been previously removed from FPL or FPL-C previously removed for reasons outside of performance, then move-ups for that player will be on a case by case basis.
The path to qualifying for the FPL as solo will remain unchanged, with this being achieved through FACEIT matchmaking and Mythic Hubs. FPL Cups provide a new and alternative way to qualify for FPL through the support of a team-based format.

We’re looking forward to seeing how the introduction of FPL Cups provide the necessary changes to the nature of FPL qualification, and we hope that this new format delivers the much-needed support that the NA CS:GO grassroots scene requires to continue developing world-class talent.
