Let’s drop the beat!

Hello Heroes!

As promised in our previous blog, we’re back today to share more information about what we’re cooking up.

We’re excited to announce the first PC tournaments you can start playing from today on FACEIT and a couple of new exciting features, with detailed explanations on how they will impact your journey as an Overwatch competitive player on FACEIT.

Introducing the FACEIT Elo and Ranking System

FACEIT Skill Levels, and starting Elo for Overwatch players.

Your FACEIT Elo rating will be the heart of your FACEIT journey and one of the most important pieces of your identity you’ll have as a competitive player in the Overwatch Esports ecosystem. When you connect your battle.net account with your FACEIT account for the first time, we’ll automatically retrieve your best competitive role rank from your most recently completed season (season 7 or 8) of Overwatch on PC, to give you a fair and accurate starting Elo (between 625 and 1640) on FACEIT. If you don’t have a competitive rank from those 2 seasons, we’ll use your best season 9 role rank to determine your Elo.

Track your Elo progression on your Stats page.

The Elo system will be used as a key ingredient in providing you with a fair and balanced experience in different types of competitions on the FACEIT platform, and also serve as your personal compass indicating where you stand in terms of skill amongst your friends, your country, your regions and in the entire Overwatch competitive community.

FACEIT Elo will directly impact the following areas of your experience on FACEIT and Overwatch Esports:

  • Official seeding in events: To create the most competitive experience in the upcoming OWCS Open Qualifiers, and all other competitions on the platform, FACEIT Elo will be used to determine the bracket seeding. This way, no matter how many teams we have signed up, we reduce the likelihood of drawing experienced tournament teams against each other in the earliest rounds.
  • FACEIT Elo Ranking: Everyone in the community will be able to easily browse the official FACEIT Elo Rankings page which will show who the best players are and where you stand amongst them. Since the only way to climb the rankings is to perform well in official open qualifiers and tournaments on FACEIT, we believe this ranking will soon become a source of truth on who the best tournament players are, especially who are the most upcoming players in the community that deserve to be picked up — it’s a great way to promote your name and get noticed by the world’s top teams.
FACEIT Ranking: Find out where you stand in the entire Overwatch competitive community.
  • FACEIT Skill Levels (1–10): Depending on what your Elo is, you will also be assigned a skill level (1–10) which you can wear as a reflection of your skill (read here how FACEIT Skill Levels work). You’ll be able to easily set your own goals, compare yourself to other players and proudly display your level in the match rooms, player profile and many other areas on the platform.
  • Challenger Rank: To recognize the best of the best, we have created the Challenger Rank, a symbol of distinction that will award the top 1000 players in each region with a Challenger badge. This coveted Challenger Rank is a mark of distinction for the best Overwatch players, pinpointing and showcasing exactly their true level and where they stand in the community. Just like with your skill level, your Challenger rank will be proudly displayed in every match room, personal profile and many other areas of the platform.
  • Future Path to Pro programs: Your Elo will be a critical element to your experience in our future Path to Pro programs that we plan to release in the coming months. We understand there are many questions around this, and that your wish list extends to several type of competitions that are fan-favourites for FACEIT players in other games. We’re still cooking, but we promise that Overwatch will be so back.

Prepare for OWCS with FACEIT Daily and Weekly WASB Cups!

Weekly WASB rewards with over 4 million FACEIT points and $2,000 in cash prizes to grab every month

We are excited to launch FACEIT Daily and Weekly WASB (We Are So Back) Cups, the first playable tournaments on the FACEIT platform supported by the automated integration where you can start to grind your FACEIT Elo or practice for the upcoming OWCS season. As of today, they are available in NA (North America), EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa), SA (South America) and OCE (Oceania) regions, and can be easily browsed on the FACEIT tournaments page.

You’ll get to assemble your team and start competing under the official conditions and match settings of the OWCS. Replicating the OWCS map pool and series structure will let you try out our veto system, and improve your strategy & hero composition, and team skills against the best Overwatch teams before the competition starts.

Below you’ll find the formats we’ve designed for our Daily & Weekly WASB cups. The Daily Cups are designed to be an everyday playable competition that is quick and with low hour commitment. The weekly WASB Cups are meant to be a greater challenge, with larger rewards and tons of teams competing across 3 days full of action.

These formats will continually evolve based on your feedback.

Weekly WASB Cups format

IMPORTANT: In terms of the schedule, you can start playing your very first FACEIT Cups today, but only from 19th February, winning or losing matches in tournament competitions on FACEIT will start impacting your Elo. All FACEIT cups from the 15th until the 19th of February will not impact your Elo as we wanted to give you time to prepare and first learn how the platform and the new automated connection work. For all competitive tryharders out there, this means you will have 4 days to build your team and test the Cups, with Elo disabled, before things get serious on the 19th!

We believe that all competitive players should receive rewards for their skill, effort and commitment to the game. FACEIT Daily and Weekly WASB Cups will be the first Overwatch content where you will be able to earn FACEIT Points, our platform currency, which you can then redeem in the FACEIT Shop for prizes such as merchandise, hardware, and soon, Battle.net currency!

Win your first FACEIT Points!

To get started on FACEIT and earn your first FACEIT points easily and for free, you can complete FACEIT Missions for Overwatch. They are simple challenges (e.g, win 1 match) that will immediately earn you FACEIT Points once completed. You can find all your available missions here.

The first missions we launch will be linked to our Weekly WASB Cups, so be sure to participate and win your matches to earn your first FACEIT points. In the future, there will be more ways to reward your skills and achievements, as we’re looking to expand the Overwatch prize inventory of the FACEIT Shop.

We’re still cooking 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

As we highlighted in the past blog, our ultimate goal is to work with the community to make Overwatch one of the world’s largest competitive esports ecosystems; to achieve it, your feedback is essential. All of the content presented here today will evolve together with your feedback and everyone who plays will get to directly participate in shaping the future of FACEIT in Overwatch.

We’re still cooking and promise will be back soon with further announcements on new types of playable content coming to the platform. Until then, start competing in our Daily and Weekly Cups and register for the OWCS Open Qualifier!

We look forward to seeing who is going to dominate the first cups and be among the first to take the top spots in the Elo ranking!

We are so back.
