Hey Overwatch Community ❤️!

We are excited to share that the FACEIT League Season 1 registration is now closed with more than 255 teams signing up to compete and directly supporting the league!

Considering it’s our first season and that it took us years to reach this number of teams in Counter-Strike, we are extremely proud of the turnout and this marks an important step forward for FACEIT League to become a sustainable competitive backbone for the Overwatch community, providing players of all skill levels with consistent content, financial rewards, and unforgettable moments for years to come.

We understand that a sustainable entry-fee League is a bold and novel format for the community, and we want to thank everyone who took a leap of faith with us, supported us by sharing the announcement with their friends and provided important feedback that helped shape the experience in the inaugural season.

Now that the registration is complete, we’d like to share some changes to Season 1 based on the final count of teams in each region, to ensure that we provide the best possible experience to every team.

FACEIT League Discord Support

We’d like to invite all Season 1 participants to join our official Discord channel where they will be given special tags reserved for all competitive teams. FACEIT League is a very new product for Overwatch and we want to be in touch with all 255+ teams to provide you with any assistance you may need. This will also be one of the best ways your team can stay on top of all important information about the current and future seasons.

Adjusting divisions to provide a better experience for everyone

Somewhat unsurprisingly, those aspiring players who love the Overwatch scene often tend to be higher-ranked and our initial divisions are somewhat skewed toward the top. In order to give players a fair experience where they can enjoy matches with money on the line but against players of a similar skill level, we are adjusting the divisions as we highlighted would be possible here. This reduces the risk of a few teams dropping out in smaller conferences resulting in a significant number of forfeits and a worse experience for everyone.

Europe, Middle East, and Africa / North America

  • Master remains unchanged
  • Expert’s prize pool increases as outlined below
  • Advanced and Open will merge and the prize pool will be adjusted.
  • The Open division conferences in each region (West/Central and Europe/Middle East) will merge

South America / Oceania

  • Master remains unchanged
  • Expert and Open will merge and the prize pool will be combined
  • In SA, the format will adjust to Round Robin from Swiss so each teams play each other

The adjusted prize pool for Open and Expert will be as follows:

EMEA/NA Expert:

  • 1st: $2,000
  • 2nd: $1,500
  • 3rd: $1,000
  • 4th: $750
  • 5th/6th: $500
  • 7th/8th: $300

EMEA/NA Open:

  • 1st: $1,000
  • 2nd: $500
  • 3rd: $375
  • 4th: $200
  • 5th/6th: $150
  • 7th/8th: 10,000 FACEIT Points
  • 9th-16th 5,000 FACEIT Points

SA/OCE Open:

  • 1st: $250 + 300,000 FACEIT Points
  • 2nd: $150 + 175,000 FACEIT Points
  • 3rd: $50 + 100,000 FACEIT Points
  • 4th: $50 + 75,000 FACEIT Points
  • 5th/6th: 50,000 FACEIT Points
  • 7th/8th: 25,000 FACEIT Points

Registration for Season 2 is just around the corner as we continue to add new features, improve, and grow the number of teams Season after Season, just as we did in Counter Strike where we’ve just finalized registration for our Season 49, scoring a record amount of 2,659 subscribed teams!

Lastly, don’t miss out the action in our Master Division where the best teams in the world will be battling for their share of $170,000 and Esports World Cup qualification.

Good luck everyone in Season 1!
